Listened in my car, just tried to play what you have stored on this website, but couldn’t get the sound (yes, I did toggle it “on”).

Question – When Tyson said “It’s just you, the music, and the cosmos”, which observatory was he in at the time/referring to?

The Austin flood Neil mentioned must have been the Memorial Day flood of 1981 and the creek he spoke of but didn’t name was Shoal Creek. Eleven or thirteen people died in the flood. Tyson also mentioned stores inundated. One was the original and very small Whole Foods store, right there on North Lamar Boulevard. It recovered, the rest is history.

Being a New Yorker by birth, couldn’t help loving the selections of Miles Davis and Milt Jackson (with John Lewis and Percy Heath and Connie Kay) and McCoy Tyner, and — . I saw them all back in the ’50s, and Brubeck and Hampton and the Counts and —. Forgive me for rambling and name-dropping, but I’m in the grip of a bit of nostalgia here.

  Hi Roy. So glad you’re enjoying the show. I don’t remember which observatory he was referring to, and would have to listen again to the show myself to find out. I think he mentions it by name. The show is archived and I checked and it’s streaming fine if you want to check it out.
